Laughing Sun is proud to present “The Ratigan” in January for the 2026 Downtown Burger Slam! A flavorful smoked elk burger inspired by our family friend and former pitmaster, Willy Ratigan, who tragically passed away at a young age in 2025. This burger is dedicated to his wife, Kati, and his son, Liam.
It starts with the garlic crunch of a toasted bun, then heats up with green chile mayo. Perfectly perched on top of a butter lettuce leaf is a locally-sourced Pride of Dakota elk burger(from Mandan, ND). The elk patty is smoked to perfection, and dripping with two slices of melted Monterey Jack cheese. The real star is the chunky, hand-cut bacon leek jam, piled high, and sprinkled with tangy pickled red onion. Gooey, juicy, and full of HEART! Hold on with both hands!
